Why I love photography?

Patterns, colors, shapes, light and shadow fascinate me!  I love being able to connect with my surrounding and capture scenes, sometimes even mundane sights, in hopes to create intriguing photos.  I stop, look around, observe, feel the ambience and yes take the time to smell the roses :).  I let go of myself and be part of nature, people, still life and anything that I photograph. My portfolio includes a mix of fine art, nature, family & event photos primarily from Nepal and Florida.  Recently I have started to do more family sessions and I am enjoying them a lot.  Being away from home and family make me homesick sometimes.  So, when families invite me to be part of their events and capture the precious moments, it gives me inner joy and uplifts my spirit.

How did my photography journey start?

My love for photography bloomed while revisiting Nepal in 2011. It was amazing to see plethora of photography opportunities that my hometown had to offer. The everyday scenes that I had taken for granted while growing up, like the bustling streets of Kathmandu to serene landscapes, from unique architecture to friendly faces all seemed enticing.  Who would've thought that signing up for an introductory photography workshop just to kill time would end up jump-starting my photography journey.  My seemingly innocent and rookie photos were applauded by my teachers and classmates.  The workshop made me realize that I have the art of seeing and boosted my confidence to pick up a DSLR camera.  Since then, I have attended more workshops, exhibited and won awards.

My style of shooting and belief

No matter what I shoot, I love to add artistic spin by looking at things from a different point of view. It's like an "Aha" moment and you know that something just clicked, first in the mind and then in the camera. In that sense, I truly do believe that it is not just about having high-tech, top of the line camera or equipments that guarantee great work, rather the photographer's vision that transcends into a great photograph that ultimately connects with the human heart and mind!
